Alice Schaefer, 103, Wausau died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. Alice was born May 8, 1903 to the late Fred and Wilhelmina (Aschbrenner) Malzahn in Merrill. She married Douglas Schaefer on Aug. 19, 1937 in Rockford, Ill. He preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1978, in Calif.
In 1949 they moved to Calif., where they enjoyed it very much. Alice moved back to Wausau in 1990 and lived for a time at Island Place. She started a "kitchen band" there which was enjoyed by all. Alice was a long-time member of Grace United Church of Christ, Wausau.
Survivors include her step-son, William (Joan) Schaefer, Stevens Point; sister-in-law, Myrtle Pittsley, Wausau; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Edwin and Ralph Malzahn.
